University of Bristol MSc Dental Implantology

A lot of general practitioners
don’t offer implants and we see them in practice every day. The trouble is we’re not always
educated as undergraduates to know how to manage them. So I feel over the next
40 years of my working career, it is going to become much more the mainstay of general practisioners in their dental lives. I decided to study the Implantology degree because there’s been an increased demand in
dental implants in the last 10 years. People are more aware
of what they’re entitled to, what they can get, what the cost of things are and I want to be in a position
where I can offer them every single treatment that’s available and not have to refer them out to other dentists. The teaching is excellent. I’m very happy and I feel very lucky
that I could join the course because all the tutors are very professional and I feel that I can learn a lot. So at the moment I’m working full time and I manage to do the work on the
weekends and some evenings. Fortunately because it’s self-study you can choose when you want to do the work which is easier so I can fit
around my own lifestyle. The structure of the course
is very practical for me because I’m working at the same time and it’s just the odd day off work
so it’s not taking too much time. I think the thing I enjoy most about the course is the fact that everything is evidence based so all the protocols and
everything they teach is based on years and years of evidence and research so that when we actually come
to do the practical side of things we know that what we’re doing is going
to be successful and predictable. All the help I needed I got from our
course administrator Kate who was very prompt, I just sent her an
email with what I needed and very promptly it was answered and solved so so far I would say that the service
I needed was fulfilled perfectly. I access the information I need for
the course through Blackboard and the University website. There is access to the library from
there as well which is fantastic so you can basically sit at home in your own time and access everything you need; journals, books a lot of textbooks you need are
also available online now; all from the comfort of your own home,
which is fantastic. It’s really wide-scale of everything, so yes, 99% of everything I can get through
the website sitting at home in the lounge in my armchair…
so yes, it’s easy!
