My name is Alex Kanaan and I am in the RN to BSN program at St. Petersburg College. Nursing is very rewarding, especially when you are an advocate for the patient. I chose St. Petersburg College because it was a local program. I had heard that it had one of the best nursing programs in the state and it was just convenient because after six months of working at Baycare I became eligible for the grant program through SPC. My employer also has tuition reimbursement. In the RN to BSN program I am really just pleased with the fact that we are already practicing as nurses. Once you get into community and leadership, you are volunteering in the community, you’re doing projects outside of school, working with other classmates. I think that SPC students have a little bit more opportunities in their education. Between the Earn as You Learn program, the grant program, your traditional students, your night time classes, you as a student have so many more options. SPC in this area is like a community because we have multiple campuses and a lot of people know about us. I think SPC carries a good name. If you’re an SPC student you are representing a good college.
