Restorative Dentist Ellenton, FL – Digital Impressions

DR. RICHARD W. STEINBERG, DDS: Digital impressions
are, in my opinion, the best piece of technology that we’ve incorporated in the entire time
that I’ve been in practice. And what that means to the patient is no more gagging on
impression materials, and no more gagging on impression trays, and no more mess around
their mouth, and retakes of impressions, and inaccurate fits, and long appointments to
seek the restorations. With this technology, what we’re doing is
taking digital images by specific camera, which incorporates five video images at once,
on every click, and then it knits together an image that duplicates the patients’ perforations
and opposing bites. And from that it’s sent to our laboratory via email, the laboratory
manufactures a model of the patients’ mouth, and from there the crowns, or bridges, or
partials are made. And that has eliminated a lot of time for patients, it’s made a much
better fit of the restorations, it’s increased not only our accuracy, but our confidence
that we’ve given the patient the best restoration that we can give them.
The patients love it. We have a lot of people that will put off dentistry because they don’t
want the impressions. They’re afraid of them or they’re claustrophobic, or it makes them
gag, or whatever the reason. But this is basically a camera that’s taking pictures, and its incredible
technology.
