ILO Global Business and Disability Network

ILO Global Business and Disability Network

Companies gain knowledge on how to
effectively include people with disabilities in their workforce – both by
learning from our guidance but also in particular learning from each other. The whole logic of the network is to facilitate exchange of information between
companies. You need to have a passion to promote disability at the workplace and
our network is a good example for business to showcase that people with
disabilities have equal or better competencies. They are competent, they are capable and they’re committed. I think also business leaders, when they
see the success stories, they realize that their inaccurate assumptions that
they had previously really doesn’t work. In today’s day and age, when we are
looking at innovation and reimagining and simplification, I think the
contribution of persons with disabilities in this framework is immense. The ILO brings together and shares multiple viewpoints on disability issues which is very valuable for the network’s members. Dow chose a way but I think there’s many other different ways you can go in getting a more
diverse culture in a company and we want to learn from other companies as well. So
that’s why we collaborate with ILO to get these different perspectives and
also learning from that and making things better also for our company. The members of the ILO global business and disability network
are changing attitudes and company cultures. As workplaces are becoming more diverse and more inclusive they become more innovative and that’s bringing
better business results.
