FAQ – What are the steps of placing dental implants? | Sierra Smiles

Dr. Linda Sierra: The first thing that we
would do is take a cone beam which is a three dimensional X-ray that allows us to see where
we can place the implant, put it in the perfect place. Then we have a surgical guide made so there’s
no guessing, we know exactly where it goes. We have the patient come in within a few weeks,
and place the implant. Usually the patient walks out with very little
discomfort. They heal within about three months, they’re
ready for the final crown. They come in for a final impression, and with
that impression we’re able to make two more parts, the part that screws into the implant
and the part that goes on top of that which is basically a crown that goes over that. The tooth fit looks very natural, we can do
it without having to show any metal. It looks very natural, and very strong, and
it doesn’t decay.
