FAQ – How does dental care change as my child ages? | Castle Rock Smiles Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Layne Benzley: As kids get older, their
mouths change. Kids are developing and constantly changing. Initially, we’re looking at the eruption of
their baby teeth and how their mouth develops and helping them and their parents learn how
to take care of their teeth, understand the proper dietary habits to have so that they
can keep their teeth healthy, and then they move into a stage where they start losing
teeth. They start losing baby teeth and getting permanent
teeth. We want to teach them how to maintain those
permanent teeth. As they grow, we start looking at their orthodontic
needs to make sure that their bite is fitting together well. If they have needs for orthodontic treatment,
then we can refer them to an orthodontist and work together with them to make sure we’re
taking care of all of their oral care needs.
