Dr. Tejas Patel discusses advantages of Dental Implants in Austin, Texas.

Hey this is Dr Tejas Patel with Austin
Cosmetic and one of the frequently asked questions we get in regards to dental
implants is what are the advantages and disadvantages of dental implants and it
kind of leads into a couple other questions in regards to the cost and success rate so the one of the biggest advantages of dental implants is a success rate I’ll say that you know in dental implants have like at least some 98-99% success rate and when we talk about
replacing teeth I would say dental implants are the number one choice in regards to
replacing teeth that could be a single tooth that could be multiple teeth that
could be a whole roll of teeth or even to replace a denture
so there’s many advantages to dental implants, the success rate a big
part of that not only that when we talk about other tooth replacements when we
talk about a dental bridge or a partial or denture there’s a lot of
disadvantages related with those three options a bridge involves affecting
other teeth that if they’re healthy they’re just getting worked on because
of anchoring onto the bridge a partial is something removable as well as a
denture so those never feel stable or as comfortable to the patient often
patients will have to use partials or dentures glue to help keep those in with
implant another huge advantage versus implants versus our implant supported
teeth or implant supported bridges is versus a partial or denture that with an
implant supported restoration you have more chewing force or chewing capacity
and basically that just translates into you would be able to chew and enjoy the
foods you prefer versus kind of compromising with a partial or denture
because you don’t have as much chewing force or chewing ability for chewing
strength with those options versus the dental implants so many advantages to
dental implant another huge advantage for dental implant is when an implants
placed in the jaw bone it deters future bone loss it actually
promotes the bone from the bone healing in that area and the bones support in that area so there’s a huge advantage for dental implants and when we talk about disadvantages for dental implants honestly there really isn’t many
disadvantages for a dental implant I do think for many of our patients cost can
be an issue for dental implants because when we weigh out the option of a dental
bridge versus an implant or dentures or partials you know bridges partials or
dentures can can often be less expensive in the short term but honestly in the
long term when those things have to be redone because in dental implants have a
higher success rate than a lot of those other options when those things have to
be redone over time like a a a bridge a partial or a denture the cost long-term
is probably going to cost you more than a dental implant so again maybe in the
short-term I could see a disadvantage the dental implant being that cost maybe
an initial cost but again when we’re thinking long term over thinking 10
years 20 years out you’re going to get a better success rate with the dental implant versus many of the other options and honestly the dental implants will
probably outlast many of the other restorations that you had in your mouth so those are some the advantages and disadvantages of dental implants hopefully that’s helpful for you if there’s anything we can help you out with please let us know
we’d love to help you out thank you so much www.austincosmetic.com
