2020 Medicare Annual Enrollment & Medigap Open Enrollment

I’m Jeff. Hello, I’m Chad. One of the
common things that comes up during Medicare enrollment is, a confusion
between two different kinds of enrollments. What are they, Chad? Alright.
So basically, you have two major types of enrollments when you’re going on
Medicare. The first one really is your Medicare Supplement open enrollment
period. Which is usually when you’re first turning 65 is when that happens
but the other one would be your Medicare annual enrollment period. Okay. And what’s the difference between those two?Alright. So. The first one again, is when
you’re first turning 65 and that’s basically you have a 6 month window
when you’re turning 65 to buy any Medicare supplement plan that’s in your
market, in your state, with any company. No health questions asked. That’s the best
time to buy your Medicare Supplement policy. The annual Medicare enrollment
period, is for everybody that’s on Medicare and it happens each year
between October 15th and December 7th and that’s when you can make changes to
your Medicare coverage, your Part D Drug coverage, those kinds of things. Okay. What should a person do about each one of these things? Well. Your Medicare
Supplement Open Enrollment Period, open enrollment, again, is typically when you
are 65 and your Part B has started for the first time. So, what you want to do is
make sure that if you do want a Medicare supplement plan, that you go
ahead and purchase it during this time. Because you cannot be declined for any
health reasons or anything like that. The Medicare annual enrollment period each
year, that’s more for those folks who maybe have a Medicare Advantage plan or want to consider enrolling into a Medicare Advantage plan or changing the
Medicare Advantage plan. Also their drug coverage which we call Part D. Okay great. Now these are really important things for you to think about. So, if you have
any questions, Chad. What would be the best way for
someone to reach out to you? Okay perfect. So, it’s a lot of information and you
